Bio
Karen Alexander-Doyel presently resides in Lenoir City, Tennessee. Karen was married for 28 years and was the widow of Dr. Douglas R. Alexander, former Pastor of First Baptist Church, Lenoir City. Karen has three adult sons: Mark, Stephen, and John. She married James Alan Doyel in 2004. Jim supports Karen in her ministry and is an unexpected gift added by God to her life.
Karen was born in Dayton, Ohio. She attended Hardin-Simmons University of Abilene, Texas where she majored in Religious Education. She was actively involved in the ministry of her husband, as they served in Abilene and Fort Worth, Texas; Albuquerque, New Mexico; Little Rock, Arkansas; Columbus, Ohio; and most recently, Lenoir City, Tennessee.
As a minister’s wife of 28 years she loves the opportunity to mentor and share with wives whose husbands are serving the Lord in ministry. Karen loved being a pastor’s wife and enjoys encouraging others to learn the secrets of “serving with joy.”
Karen’s heart is also in the ministry of the Christian Family. While raising her three sons, she began to share with others what the Lord taught her. This circle of sharing has widened to include her church family and churches of a variety of denominations. She teaches seminars in schools for parents and teachers, holds retreats all over the United States, speaks on local Christian radio programs, and leads in associational retreats. Karen has taught seminars and spoken at two women’s conferences in Russia, the most recent in March of 2004.
Karen is a conference and Bible Study leader and has established and led Women’s Ministry programs in each of the churches she attended. These programs include, Heart to Heart, visitation ministry, Mom’s support groups, hospitality ministry, and craft programs.
After the untimely death of her husband, Karen developed a testimony and study on “Hearing God’s Call,” as well as, “Digging Deeper into God’s Word,” and “Joy in All Circumstances”, a study that answers the questions, “is it possible to serve with joy in all circumstances of life?”
Karen was named to the “Outstanding Young Women of America - 1988” and served on the Committee of Committees for the Southern Baptist Convention 1989, Dayspring, 1992 and 1995, and the Ohio WMU Convention, 1992. She currently is contracted with Lifeway of the Southern Baptist Convention as a Lifeway Ministry Multiplier.
